April 29 — New

I saw new
today
in the wind beneath
our limbsour feet didn’t leave the ground
but I saw new
in the flittering wave of my hair
and the sag
in your not-shoulders
but the sleeve of another
big sweater
I saw new in the laughter of
hands at the
family pianoI saw new in the way your arms
locked themselves around me
when I told you
that the scowl
that crowds my face
doesn’t moreso greater
The saturated
lip quivers in my mind that
say
I know
we’re both here
me for you
you for me
alone
in this together
and theres no one
with whom I’d rather
soak in this left waiting rain.I saw new today
in you
and I saw new today in me.
we’ll see new one day
in ours.
