The Threat of Autonomy

PJR — April 26, 2021

We’ve come to a point
Where we have ceased to
Matter and she’s the one
With more power than body.

But tip to tail, you’re still
The only bridge I want to
Cross. The morning coffee
I’d drink twice, unmilked.

Watching you feed her
Makes me hungry for
The moment where she
Will herself. And then

She woke us up, not
Meaning anything, but
Specifically, and intentional.
Purposeful and then

I thought of the myriad ways
our lives and futures may unfold
But myriad does not do justice
To the urgent call that humbles us.
